Maggots, fungus, fire, vultures, morticians…all are useful in helping to minimize the unpleasant after-effects of the no-longer-living. We owe them our gratitude. And of course the ancient Egyptians contributed greatly to the art of preserving bodies so they didn’t become, well, icky. Modern embalming techniques continue the process in a different way, and perhaps this bottle once held embalming fluid. Made by ESCO, it is quite ornamental, embossed with an obelisk on two sides with graduated measurements. The age is unknown, but might date to the 1930s or so.
