Inquiring Minds

What is a uraeus?  Who was the tenth ruler of Egypt?  How long will it take to get to the pyramids via camel?  Perhaps The Century Dictionary, Cyclopedia, and Atlas can answer these questions.  Published in 1907, the cover of this volume features a creepy image of the Sphinx’s head cut open to reveal the secret to his knowledge.  This braggadocio is continued in the description below:
“The Great Question-Answerer – for centuries the Sphinx has stood as the symbol of riddles, unanswerable questions, and silence.  The great Questioner of the centuries finds its Answerer in ‘The Century’.”

Do you actually own a copy? That would be very cool to read. I wonder, how long does it take to get to the pyramids by camel? 1907 the world was pretty captivated by Egypt.

Yep, I own it! Everything on my blog is from my personal collection. Unfortunately in storage at the moment, so it’s a good thing I took photos when I did!
